Established to support children affected by financial hardship in Redditch, Bromsgrove and the surrounding area, The Oakland Foundation is delighted to have secured additional commitments from a local Redditch business to help extend its existing programme of activities.

The charity’s key commercial sponsor, Oakland International Ltd, has agreed to give each of their team members a volunteering time allowance each year which can be used to work on charitable projects.

Commenting for the charity, Foundation Trustee Mark Williams said: “The agreement we now have, thanks to Oakland International, means that we can have a much greater impact on the lives of local children, making a real difference to them and to the wider community.”

“This agreement also means that any Oakland International employee who wishes to volunteer their time and make a difference locally can, and it will also provide the Foundation with a much needed multi-skilled volunteer base.”

Worth over £7,000 of additional funding in financial terms, the commitment means that the charity now has additional scope to support local projects such as helping with school trips, supporting youth coaching and working on after-school events. Employee initiatives already being planned include a music event, sports training and a pupil careers day.

Commenting for Oakland International, Managing Director Barry Davies said: “Oakland International is committed to engaging and encouraging local community partnerships and in developing a loyal and socially responsible workforce, dedicated to behaving with integrity, which is at the heart of everything Oakland represents.”

A local school already benefitting from the news is Ipsley CE RSA Academy in Beoley. Principal Nicola Beech, commented: “Our relationship with Oakland is becoming an increasingly important part of how we transform children’s lives at Ipsley. The flexible and diverse range of support offered by Oakland has both a practical and aspirational impact on pupils’ learning experiences. It is a fantastic example of how collaboration can bring about meaningful change.”
