International Delegates Ready For Second Brexit Event

The next event in a series of dedicated Brexit Seminars is only weeks away and will be held once again at The Crowne Plaza, NEC, Birmingham on Wednesday 27th June 2018.

International delegates at Oakland’s Brexit Seminar launch event in February attracted food businesses and non-food importers, Embassies, logistics providers and consultants from the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, France and Asia.

The Brexit Seminar series is organised jointly by multi temperature supply chain specialist Oakland International, which has depots and facilities based in the UK, Ireland and an overseas partner in Spain and Oakland Invicta, specialist Customs duty planners and Brexit advisors to the Institute for Government, InterTradeIreland, InvestNI and registered experts with the EU Commission on matters relating to international trade.

Oakland Invicta and Brexit Lead, Robert Hardy, stated: “Following February’s seminar I was invited to speak at a number of similar events across Europe and to assist delegates gain AEO approval and develop Brexit strategies as we have shown what can and must be done now to prepare for life after Brexit, and how and why businesses should engage with suppliers across the world to identify possible and potential savings.

“There are processes and procedures which exist today, businesses just need to know where to look and how to line up the dots!”

June’s event will focus on exports and include the customs union, the Irish Border, port delays and more, with each theme un-picked and de-mystified. Questions will be answered by a panel of experts who will provide practical advice and guidance. Event speakers comprise Chris Sturman CEO of FSDF, Liam Gilbert from IGD, John Keefe Director of Public Affairs for Getlink (Eurotunnel), Karl Trumper Managing Director – UK Trade & Working Capital at Barclays, Robert Hardy Operations Director of Oakland Invicta and Dean Attwell CEO and Co-founder of Oakland.

Delegates at February’s event included Netherlands based food producer Conveni’s Head of Commercial UK and Ireland, Noel Reidy, who commented: “Time really well spent, – Rob Hardy clearly explained how to navigate Brexit with practical, sound advice, without all of the political spin and jargon.”
