‘GlastonBeoley’ the first ever music festival of its kind to be held in the Midlands attracted around 12,000 people and raised a staggering £10,000 for charity.
Event Organiser Debbie Joynes said: “Our GlastonBeoley committee have been overwhelmed with the love support and generosity shown to our event – so much so that we have decided to do it all again next year!
“The charities are overjoyed with the money raised and are already planning on spending the cash on vital resources for those who benefit from their services. Thank you to all who came, sang, danced, sunbathed, played, ate and drank, you all did a great job in helping raise an amazing amount of money.”
Festival goers were joined by famous faces from the world of TV, radio and sport as twenty-eight local musicians and singer songwriters from across the Midlands took turns to entertain the crowd, including artists such as Imaner, English Jones, The Hatstand Band, hannah ‘h’, Carrick, Chris Bicknell Music and The Red Tailsto.
Hayley Smith from Oakland International, a local business who helped support the event, commented: “GlastonBeoley was amazing and a fantastic community music event which brought so many people from the area together and will help to support two incredible charities. We’re now looking forward GlastonBeoley 2019!”
The £10,000 raised from the event will now be split between two national charities working within local communities across the country; Deafblind UK, which assists people with combined sight and hearing loss offering help, advice, guidance and practical support, and the Mental Health Foundation, which is the UK’s charity for mental health and campaigns for good mental health for all.
Added Debbie: “The feedback we have had since the festival has been overwhelmingly positive with folks pleading with us to do it all again next year, and musicians really wanting to be involved with any future events, so we’re hoping to see your lovely faces once again next year!”
