Since total supply chain solutions provider Oakland International’s state-of-the-art chilled and deep chilled Coalville warehouse opened in September 2020, it has seen a significant uplift in enquiries from manufacturers looking for an optimum cross-docking platform for products destined for UK retailers and wholesalers.
Oakland International’s Distribution Director Martin Pearson commented: “Along with the storage and picking capability, we were aware that the location of the Coalville site also presented an optimum solution for food manufacturers looking to pick their own orders onto pallets for onward distribution to their UK retailer and wholesaler customers.
“We welcome these enquiries as this volume is entirely complimentary to our site volume distribution operations and the synergies it provides allows us to drive costs down across the supply chain for the benefit of all.’’
Coalville’s 225,000 sq. ft unit is a multi-million-pound investment for Oakland International with plans in place to install solar panels to make the warehouse carbon neutral as part of their focus towards becoming the first carbon-neutral business within their sector. They are also BRC AA accredited, and double Queen’s Award for Enterprise recipients for International Trade and Sustainable Development.
Added Martin: “Coalville is the perfect solution for anyone re-evaluating their cross-docking transport supply chain, and we welcome the opportunity to explain the benefits of this exciting development.”
