SUPER SLICK IMPORT PROCESSES
Customs have created a simplified process known as TSP (Transitional Simplified Procedures). For those of you that are mid-way through CFSP approval we will apply for TSP and let you know. The application process is not yet open but should be in a few days. Good news for UK established importers – you qualify (providing you have a deferment). For non-UK importers we have asked for clarity as current literature suggests that you don’t qualify. For forwarders and logistics operators, you cannot have TSP I’m afraid. CFSP is still available though. We’ve created a simple guide. Go to www.mybrexit.uk/downloads and select Brexit RORO and Eurotunnel. Make sure you do – the information contained therein is very important.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDES
You will also find step-by-step guides to IMPORTING and EXPORTING in the downloads section at www.mybrexit.uk. They are well worth a read. Even if you do not export you should still download the guide as it will show what your supplier has to do to get goods to you.
IMPORT DUTIES
Still no news. We still suspect nil duty on EU imports from day one and recent updates from Customs are more geared to zero duty than full duties. Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed – to coin a phrase.
CE QUALITY MARK
We do not pretend to be experts in this area but the CE mark is going and the UKCA mark is coming. You might want to familiarise yourself with the new rules, if you have not already done so. Click HERE for further details.
EVERY PORT – EVERY TIME
We’re often asked if we can look after the clearance process for our clients. The short answer is yes. We recently established connections to CNS and MCP which gives us access to every port system. We can now present entries (including simplified frontier declarations) at every UK port. We are establishing the same in Ireland at the moment. We can also handle EAD / EXS / ENS declarations. If you don’t know what these are you need to download our step-by-step guides!
AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE BACKSTOP
We have been working with Government to formulate a plan for Ireland as part of the ‘alternative arrangements’ tabled by Sir Graham Brady MP. We have devised a juxtaposed model which is now receiving close attention. Our proposals can be downloaded at www.mybrexit.uk/downloads just select Brexit FREIGHT Process.
