Redditch-based charity The Oakland Foundation, whose object is to relieve the needs of disadvantaged children living in Redditch, Bromsgrove and the surrounding area, has confirmed the appointment of Luke Attwell as a Trustee.
Oakland Foundation Trustee, Pete Vaughan, stated: “I am delighted to welcome Luke to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. His skillset and genuine desire to develop the charity’s business links will be a great asset as we further increase our focus and engagement with the community.”
Luke’s role will be to help provide additional resource to enable the Foundation to support more community groups and ultimately recruit even more volunteers from their close relationship with key business sponsor, Oakland International, who has committed to supporting The Oakland Foundation both financially and through their employee volunteering programme.
Pete added: “Over the next twelve months we plan to engage with more volunteers recruited through Oakland International as they are keen to extend their existing core volunteering programme. Luke is ideally suited to help us achieve this due to his experience of working in a range of Oakland departments and the number of strong relationships he has been able to build.”
The Oakland Foundation offers support for children who are affected by financial hardship and other disadvantages, and offers help in areas such as Health and Nutrition, Education and Sport.
Oakland Foundation Trustee, Luke Attwell, commented: “The Foundation has been successfully supporting children in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area for the past 2 years and I could see the good work that they were achieving within the local community. I have always held a deep affinity for helping all children to have as much of a fair and equal start in life as possible, with past experiences of volunteering when I was at school, working on programmes for multiple special schools, only deepening this.
“I was originally part of the team involved in setting up the Foundation, and after taking part in a number of fundraising events for the Foundation it was the obvious next step for me to join the Board. My aim now is to increase sponsorship and volunteering in order to have more capacity to make a positive impact on even more children in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area, and I can utilise my skills and qualities in terms of communication and fund raising to assist with this.”
