Pupils Delighted With New Playground


The Oakland Foundation charity together with the Rotary Club of Bromsgrove, have been busy upgrading and adding new playground equipment at Catshill Middle School in Bromsgrove.

Oakland Foundation Trustee, Mr Luke Attwell, stated: “The project, jointly funded by the Oakland Foundation and the Rotary Club of Bromsgrove, enlisted the two organisations combined skills and expertise to deliver a community project which children from across the Bromsgrove area can enjoy. We were also delighted to assist the gardening club plant apple trees within the school grounds.”

Working with pupils from the Student Council and key staff, the project has transformed the school’s existing playground by adding new communal seating areas and a dedicated reading area, football goals posts as well as a whole host of other sports equipment for the children to enjoy. During the summer break Oakland Foundation volunteers refurbished the school’s tired Music Room ready for the start of the autumn term.

Rotary Club President, Ms Debbie Roberts: “The Rotary Club of Bromsgrove are pleased to be working with the Oakland Foundation on the upgrading of the playground at Catshill Middle School. By combining funding and resources it has meant that we have been able to work closely with the school to provide some great equipment and really upgrade the playground for the children to enjoy.”

Match funded by the Rotary Club and the Oakland Foundation, the project was also supported by Oakland International’s Management Development Programme (MDP) which worked with the School’s Student Council to help them successfully deliver the playground project.

Catshill Middle School Executive Headteacher, Paul Essenhigh, commented: “Catshill Middle is delighted to have had the generous support of both The Oakland Foundation and The Rotary. This is allowing the school council to design additional provision on the playground to stimulate purposeful play on a daily basis. It is fabulous when such organisations work with a school to further enhance their provision for the children in their care. We could not be more happy!”
