BRC Stamp Of Approval For Oakland International’s Supply Chain And Value Added Services

Retaining BRC approval for over a decade, responsible family business Oakland International has again maintained British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) quality standard for storage and distribution.

One of the first businesses in their sector to receive BRC accreditation, Oakland’s business approach of working collaboratively with producers and retailers to optimise service, quality and consumer availability remain key focus areas.

Oakland’s quality assurance manager, Louise Smith, stated: “We are again delighted to retain our BRC accreditation as it offers positive recognition for our customers that we are a highly rated supply chain partner, ranked amongst the very best.

“An extensive range of food co-packing support services, Oakland’s frozen, chilled and ambient supply chain solution works with UK, Irish and European producers and suppliers and our approach of optimising lean methodology and automation to ensure efficient processes, whilst removing any non-value added activities, is part of our culture and strategy for sustainable growth.”

A multi temperature supply chain specialist, Oakland International supplies UK and Irish retail, discount, convenience and wholesale markets from their UK and Irish facilities and is recognised as a Top 100 Local Employer and ranked in the London Stock Exchange report in the Top 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain (March 2016).

The storage and distribution standard encompasses all activities undertaken by Oakland International that may affect safety, quality and legality of the products that are handled and stored at Oakland, with BRC’s standard undertaken and viewed by Oakland as a cross-functional responsibility, wholly supported by Oakland’s senior management and team members.

Audited against Oakland’s Quality Management System, which demonstrates compliance with the BRC standard, with adherence to HACCP and the company’s quality statement and objectives.

Internationally recognised, BRC is viewed as the ‘global standard’ for storage and distribution.
