Specialist UK and Ireland supply chain operator and responsible family business Oakland International has appointed Mark James as the company’s new Health and Food Safety Manager.

A chartered safety and health practitioner, Mark brings with him a wealth of knowledge covering behavioural safety, culture improvements, risk management and strategic development within the manufacturing, engineering and pharmaceutical sectors, having previously held positions with Culina Logistics and FWB Products.

Mark James commented: “Joining Oakland International is one of my easiest decisions due to their positive reputation as a good employer with very clear and strong values.

“In addition I wanted to return to the food storage and distribution sector as this was where my career was first established and I now relish the new challenges the role has in store.”

With an impeccable and enviable industry track record in the health and safety sector and a proven skillset in cultural and conscious employee behavioral change across many sectors, Mark is a health and safety philanthropist volunteering a significant portion of his time to the Chartered Institution of Safety and Health (IOSH) – a registered charity, and he is a IOSH Council Member and Vice-Chair of the Staffordshire Branch.

Oakland International is an award winning BRC accredited (for storage and distribution) business and a multi temperature distribution and contracting packing specialist, operating UK and Ireland facilities for food and consumer goods using ambient, chilled and frozen transportation into all major UK and Irish retail, discount, convenience and wholesale markets.

Oakland International MD Barry Davies said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark as Oakland International’s new Health and Food Safety Manager. His appointment will support our continuing growth and his extensive experience will be a strong asset. I am pleased to welcome him in to our expanding Oakland Team.”

Living in Staffordshire with his wife and three young children, Mark’s ambition is to own a 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 Fastback within the next 5 years.
